Perfect Job

What is the perfect job? Is it a part time job, a full time job, an online job, a work at home job? I can't give an absolute definition of a perfect job because the same perfect job to me wouldn't be perfect to everyone. So, since I can't list the one and only job of perfection, I will give my idea of a perfect job and will explain why everyone has a different idea of what the perfect job is.

My idea of a perfect job wouldn't be a job at all. Even if it was a job, it wouldn't seem like a job if it was perfect. Retirement is the perfect solution for me. So my idea of a perfect job is the job in which I make the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time allowing me a faster retirement. Someone else may have more than enough money to retire, but continues to work because they love their job. Some work out of fear of losing their retirement in a bad economy or continue working to better their dependents future. Others are content working temporary jobs rather than full time jobs. Some want easy jobs, others want hard jobs, many want no job.

So, why would someone continue working when they have more than enough to retire with more than enough for themselves and dependents? I think this happens because that person has true passion for their work. Most that have passion for the work they do are in jobs which give them the most stimulation and purpose. Job purpose and job pride are huge factors that can turn a job into a lifelong career and passion.

Take a person such as a cop or firefighter or many other public service jobs. Considering the risk and line of work on the front lines, these great people work for little to nothing. The military are the same. Compare cop pay or military pay to postal service pay. Why do mail carriers get paid more than cops and military where there is less risk involved? Why do these great people risk and sacrifice their lives for many in society that doesn't appreciate them? I think it's because the job purpose / job pride along with there being no braver deed than risking life for your country or innocent people. I think these jobs are some of the clearest examples at giving a purpose and sense of pride in the work.

Job pride and job purpose in the job are both huge along with passion. When you have pride in your work, simply hearing your job title mentioned will be stimulating. Many job titles get instant thoughts of respect for having a strong history. Police officers are respected by many because they maintain order in chaos while most of us sit here typing or reading. Firefighters because they run into burning building while we are trying to run out. Military because they are fighting in foreign countries for who knows what political agenda. All of these give the clearest examples of jobs that give pride and purpose.

What is a job giving purpose?

I think purpose is when a job gives you the best feeling of doing something worthile and good for yourself and others. Purpose could be as a writer that feels purpose in writing their thoughts and sharing them with the world. Purpose for a police officer could be the feeling of helping an abused child in an abusing home. When we do good things or feel purpose, the same neurotransmitters are activated when a person has sex or does drugs. Purpose is a natural high. Purpose gives an old mind young thoughts and a new mind.

What does mind have to do with a perfect job?

Everything. When many are in a job they hate, I think the aging process speeds up. When a person is bored repeating mechanical processes of repetitive thought simply working for a paycheck with no emotional payout, the person will often fall in patterns or content simply for having a comfortable job. When we are unemployed, our minds run like they are on speed, we are paranoid frantically trying to find a job so we don't have to file for unemployment. I think this speeds up our minds and keeps them working compared to our minds relaxing in a boring dead end job that gives no sense of purpose. When we are in that job that gives purpose, our minds are both challenged and entertained.

I think finding the perfect job requires you to find your perfect state of mind. I think a perfect state of mind is one that has both purpose and passion. Purpose and passion give stimulation and pride in the work you are doing. When there is stimulation, there is content and happiness along with comfort. To find the perfect state of mind, you must search the memories in your mind to find out what work you have done in the past that was highly enjoyable rather than boring and depressing. The perfect job that stimulates the most passion and purpose is no job at all.
